Huge sheet music suspended from the ceiling enhanced the ambiance, in keeping with the "Swing" theme. |
The doors opened for guests to arrive at 7:30. Dinner was served starting around 8:20. Rhythm & Swing performed to our rendition of "In the Mood" at 9:10, when the sorbet course was being served. The program followed, emceed by Colleen Needles. We were originally asked to play until "9:30 or 10:00". The dance floor was packed after dinner, and had we been able to continue, many people would have stayed to dance to the big band. We ended at 10:10, inviting the guests (around 590 of them) to go upstairs to dance to Cookie Coleman's combo.
