|Role in Roseville Big Band:||
The Roseville Big Band first met Dan when he subbed for the August 4, 2001, Confederate Air Force Air Show hangar dance. Called at the last minute because of an illness, Dan joined the band in the middle of the first set and sight-read the dance.
If Dan looks familiar to you, perhaps it's because you've seen him performing with one of these groups: Red Rock Swing Band, Swing Beat, BBB Jazz Orchestra, Andrew Welesch Big Band, White Bear Big Band, Good News Big Band, Stray Cats combo, Swing and a Miss, Twin Cities Jazz Cats, Maple Street Ramblers Dixieland, Roseville Lutheran Jazz, New Life Jazz, and New Life Orchestra, besides the Roseville Big Band.
Dan has played in a variety of pit bands, including backing up productions by the Lakeshore Players, Heritage Players, and the North St. Paul Community Theater.
Dan subs in the Dirty Shorts Brass Band and the Mike Bratlie Brass Quintet. He also subs on cornet and flugelhorn in the Sheldon Theatre Brass Band. He also is a sub in 7 Cats Swing, a group that also includes Roseville Big Band members Glen Peterson, Dave Tuenge and Mike Wobig and gave Dan his highest musical experience in Minnesota when they played on the 50th floor of the IDS building during the pre-dinner social hour for a wedding reception.
