|Ron played the introduction to "Easy to Love" under the canopy in front of Beacon Hill, reading the bass music on his iPad.|
Ron plays string bass in the South Side Big Band. He is a pioneer in the musical use of the iPad, scanning his SSBB bass parts into documents that he reads on the iPad during rehearsals and concerts. With the correct reader app and Bluetooth switch installed, he can turn pages forward or backward with a tap of his foot.
He also often plays in pit orchestras for local theatrical productions, including Lakeshore Players, CROSS Community Players, and Mounds View Community Theatre, which is performing "Guys and Dolls" in July, 2010.
Ron plays tuba in a variety of community bands and orchestras in the Twin Cities, and he is an active member of the University of Minnesota Alumni Band. He can often be heard playing tuba for special services at St. Odilia's.
Ron first performed with the Roseville Big Band at the Beacon Hill Retirement Community Ice Cream Social, June 12, 2010.
Friday, June 18, 2021.
