Bill played piano on the July 4, 2001, concert in Roseville's Central Park and had featured solos on "Hard-Hearted Hannah" and "Red House". His swing arrangement of Scott Joplin's "Pineapple Rag" is an exciting 2006 addition to the band's repertoire. The band first performed it at the Carleton College Winter Dance, February 4, 2006.
Since the early 1980's, Bill has played piano in the Pig's Eye Jazz Band. In the early 1980's he also played piano in Lazy River, another Dixieland band that performed in parks around the Twin Cities. He also plays piano in the Lazy Does It jazz band, led by Len Yaeger.
Bill earned his B. A. in music from the University of Minnesota, then completed the course work for his M. A. in music at Indiana University.
From 1966 through 1970, Bill taught form and analysis, music theory, and advanced harmony at the University of Minnesota while completing his course work toward a Ph. D. in music.
