Bass Clarinet Part to "Fire" by Glen Newton

"Fire" - page 3 of bass clarinet part.

Starting with the five notes before letter "U" and ending with the low E's two bars before "V", the bass clarinet restates the first part of the theme introduced by the E-flat trumpet in this movement from "The Elements", which Glen Newton composed as part of the 1983 West Bank School of Music composers' workshop. Then the shawm picks up the melody while the bass clarinet continues, alternating between contrary motion to the melody and duplicating the melody one or two octaves below the shawm. Letters W and X mark a reprise of the introduction, with a change in the last two bars to final the movement and the entire composition.
