Baritone sax; Bill also doubles on clarinet and alto sax.

Bill also performed with the Johnny Owen Band.

Bill played alto sax throughout high school and the University of Minnesota, including performing at the Rose Bowl. Drafted into the United States Army, he graduated on alto sax from the Navy Music School in Washington, D. C. While attending the school, Bill played for a presidential reception when newly-inaugurated President Lyndon Johnson hosted the president of Ireland.

Bill was stationed three years in Tokyo as a member of the 296th Army Band, one of two alto sax players in the band. The 296th and small ensembles that included Bill played in parades and performed concerts in Tokyo and nearby locations, both official government functions and entertainment for the Japanese people.

Between 1990 and 2020, Bill played in more than 350 Roseville Big Band concerts, entertaining tens of thousands of dancers and concert-goers.
