High school teacher

Mark describes himself as a high school teacher by day and a wannabe jazz player by night. He played trumpet at St. John's University, then put the horn away for 20 years. He was coaxed out of retirement by a high school student and his own kids, both musicians. He has studied trumpet with Steve Strand (Hornheads, JazzMN) since 2002. Since 2003, along with Larry Neumann (Century College Jazz Ensemble), Mark has coordinated and played with the St. Croix Jazz Orchestra, a professional big band out of the Stillwater area.

Mark first performed with the Roseville Big Band at the February 6, 2010, Carleton College Mid-Winter Ball.
