Jeff Shawd

Jeff played a solo on "'S Wonderful" in the Roseville Big Band's June 16, 2015, concert.

Jeff first performed with the Roseville Big Band on the June 16, 2015, concert in Roseville's Frank Rog Amphitheatre.

Professionally speaking, Jeff is a Vice President with GE’s Synchrony Financial business. But his passion is jazz music and he’s an active jazz trumpet player in the Twin Cities. Since 2007, he’s been a member of the Good News Big Band, playing mostly second and solo parts.  He has also played lead trumpet with the Brooklyn Big Band.

Jeff played trumpet while attending at Drake University, and in recent years he has performed with the Drake Jazz Ensemble as a guest artist.  He’s also joined the Bulldog Brass Band at numerous Drake sports events.

Prior to coming to the Twin Cities, Jeff’s professional career took him to the East Coast. There, he played lead and solo trumpet with the Rhythm Doctors Big Band, which performed classic jazz and swing band music for concerts, dances and other celebrations at venues from New York to Maryland.

He’s currently collaborating on a book that applies the principles of jazz improvisation to fuel business innovation success.
