Chris Allen

Chris first perfromed with the Roseville Big Band at the October 8, 2016, concert at Prospect Park United Methodist Church. has completed two years of graduate work at the University of Minnesota towards his Master's degree in trombone performance, and was a Grove Fellow during his time there. He graduated from Gustavus Adolphus College in 2014 with a Bachelor of Arts in Music with honors in performance.

Chris' primary teachers include Thomas Ashworth (University of Minnesota), Scott Moore (Gustavus Adolphus College), and Larry Zimmerman (Gustavus Adolphus College). He has taken additional lessons with Doug Wright (Minnesota Orchestra), Henry Charles Smith III, Michael Levine (Dallas Brass), and Achilles Liarmakopoulos (Canadian Brass). He has also participated in masterclasses with Randall Hawes, and Dr. Terry Leahy.

Chris is currently the low brass instructor at The Blake School and St. Michael-Albertville High School. He also works part time with Eckroth Music. 

If he looks familiar to you, perhaps you have seen him performing with the Twin Cities Brass Band, Metro Brass Ensemble, Compass Rose Brass Ensemble, Mankato Symphony, Kenwood Symphony, Red Rock Swing Band, Saints of Swing, Sheldon Theatre Brass Band, Encore Wind Ensemble, as a guest soloist with the bands at the South Campus in White Bear Lake, or as a member of trombone quartet from the University of Minnesota that has given many performances and clinics at local schools.
