A Capella Choir Accompanists

In this black-and-white photo, Glen and Dick play a duet at the keyboard. Glen Newton and Dick Gray accompanied the Big Rapids High School a capella choir.

Notwithstanding the meaning of "a capella"—in the chapel, which usually implies the absence of piano, organ, or other accompaniment—both Glen Newton and Dick Gray were accompanists for the Big Rapids High School A Capella Choir during the 1963-64 school year.

The yearbook caption for the picture above was noted that Glen and Dick were playing "a lively duet." In fact, when the picture was taken, each was playing a completely different piece of music from the other, which accounts for the amused smiles on their faces.

Another keyboard player, Jim Braendle, took this picture.
