In Memory of Dan Desmonds (1941 - 2025)

Dan listens through headphones. Dan listened to the playback of "Rosie the Riveter" at Studio M.
Dan improvised on "The Funky Cha Cha" at the Carleton College 2001 Mid-Winter Dance. Dan plays tenor sax in black suit and blue bow tie.

Former Role in Roseville Big Band: 

Baritone sax; Dan also doubles on clarinet and soprano, alto, and tenor saxes.

Member during: 

1978 (on lead alto sax through 1984), then baritone sax (1987-1989), then tenor sax (1997-2020), then baritone sax through May, 2024, sometimes filling in on lead alto sax in Kay Foster's absence

Occupation: 

Retired supercomputer designer

Dan also performed on alto sax with the Johnny Owen Band.

As a student, he played clarinet in the Purdue marching band.

Dan's playing was characterized by his beautiful tone, no matter which saxophone or clarinet he played.
