Monday, January 22: Joint rehearsal 6:30-8:00 with South Side Big Band in the Southview Middle School in Edina. (director: Scott Fleming, (h) 952-929-7550, (w) (work) 952-285-4444). It's directly across the parking lot east of the “OLD” Edina HS, about a block East of Hwy 100. Go in the main school entrance on the north side, go in (20 ft.), turn right (60-80 ft., past gym doors), turn left to go up the ramp, and the band room will be on your left. We will rehearse in the music suite jazz ensemble room, which has a piano, and a drum set and a couple amps. Bring the following songs; we'll play some of them, but might not have time for all of them. (1/22/07: The ones we played are marked with an asterisk.): As Long As I'm Singing, *Brown Wore Black, *Dance to the Big Band Swing, Latin Fantasy, *My Little Girl, *Show Me the Way to Go Home, Sleigh Ride, Summertime, Waltz for Debby. Directions to Southview Middle School, 4725 Southview Lane, Edina, MN 55424:

From the north, take 694 or 394 to 100 south. From the south, take Hwy 62 to 100 north. Exit on Benton (the exit after 50th), cross over 100 and turn left on Normandale Blvd. (It will look like you're going back onto Hwy 100, but stay to the right to go to Normandale Rd.) The next right turn is South View Lane; turn right and continue for just over a block. Park in the parking lot between the Community Center (old Edina H.S.) and the Southview Middle School, both of which are on your right.

Alternate directions: From US-100, take the Eden Ave/Vernon Ave/W 50TH St Exit. It's fairly complicated coming from the north, and you have to cross back over the highway, but from the north, after exiting, turn right on Grange Rd., and continue on E. Frontage Rd/Willson Rd. It will become Normandale Blvd/Normandale Rd., which winds around past a golf course and police station. Do not go over 30 mph. Turn left on South View Lane and see the directions above from there.
