Shannon Wenzel

When this senior picture was taken, Shannon had played trumpet 8 years, played piano 10 years, and had been a singer all her life.
Shannon was the featured soloist on Pat Metheny's "Always and Forever."
On the July 4, 2009, concert, Shannon sang the middle harmony on "You Are My Sunshine" with Carol Jensen, alto, and Karen Dunn, lead.

Shannon is a 2009 graduate of Roseville Area High School (RAHS). She played trumpet in the RAHS Symphonic Band and Symphony Orchestra and received the John Philip Sousa award, which is given annually to an outstanding band member. She also played in the 2008-2009 All-Conference band.

Shannon has played in jazz bands for six years and played both trumpet and flugelhorn in the RAHS Jazz I ensemble for three of those years.

In the fall of 2008, Shannon sang the role of Edith, one of Major-General Stanley's daughters, in the RAHS production of "Pirates of Penzance."

Shannon received a music scholarship to attend Bethel University as a music education major.She also received the RAHS music faculty's 2009 scholarship award for an outstanding student planning a career in music education.

Shannon was featured playing trumpet, soloing on "Always and Forever" and improvising on Miles Davis' "Four," and singing in a vocal trio on the Roseville Big Band's July 4, 2009, concert.
