Mario poses with his tenor sax Mario was a featured soloist with the Roseville Big Band on the July 29, 2008, concert.

A member of the Roseville Area High School (RAHS) class of 2008, Mario played tenor sax with the RAHS Jazz I ensemble and Symphonic Band as well as a Jazz Combo. At the first annual Roseville Winter Jazz Blast, Mario played solos with Jazz I on "Linebacker" and "Wind Machine".

Mario earned the award for Outstanding Musicianship at the 2006 and 2007 UW LaCrosse Jazz Festivals and was named an Outstanding Soloist at the University of Minnesota - Morris Jazz Festival. The RAHS Jazz I ensemble voted him the Most Improved Section Player for 2007 and Outstanding Soloist of 2008.

In January 2008 Mario was in the pit orchestra for "Chicago" the musical at RAHS; that band won an award for outstanding pit orchestra, and Mario performed with the Honor Pit orchestra at the 2008 Spotlight Awards.

He was also a member of the Minnesota Institute for Talented Youth Jazz band when they performed at the Hot Summer Jazz Fest in Minneapolis in 2007. The RAHS Jazz I ensemble will perform at the festival in June 2008 and will feature Mario on several solos, including "Linebacker" and "Wind Machine".
