David first performed with the Roseville Big Band on the August 1, 2006, concert in Central Park.

David has played jazz most of his life, starting in the Stillwater High School jazz band. He also played in the University of Minnesota-Duluth jazz ensemble and many combos in and after college.

He has performed with Prudence Johnson, Gary Raynor, and the late trumpeter Gene Adams.

David plays in the Cutaways Jazz Quartet with guitarists Jim Foss and Fred Anderson and bassist Steve Goranson. He also plays in 7 Cats Swing, a group that also includes Roseville Big Band members Glen Peterson and Mike Wobig.
