This dance followed the format of the successful Confederate Air Force dances, including free swing dance lessons before the dance and a costume contest. However, it went beyond the CAF in several ways. High school girls dressed as USO hostesses handed out free donuts and coffee. A swing dance contest awarded additional prizes. Volunteers from CTV15, led by producer/director John Rusterholz, broadcast the dance lessons and first hour of the dance live, in an attempt to attract members of the channel 15 viewing audience to come to the dance. The show, later rebroadcast several times on channel 15, included interviews with performers and arts council members as well as live coverage of the dancing and the Roseville Big Band's performance.
