Novice and Experienced Guest Percussionists

Guest percussionists with the Roseville Big Band at the February 2, 2002, Mid-Winter Dance displayed skills that ranged from energetic enthusiasm to mastery of complex rhythms.

Playing along with the band brings smiles to the faces of enthusiatic cowbell and tambourine players. Roseville Big Band vocalist Kirk Lindberg, at left, played a mini-afuche on "La Bamba" after helping give volunteer percussionists quick tutorials on playing the band's Latin percussion instruments.
Students played (from left to right) congas, afuche, agogo bells, maracas, tambourine, and egg shaker on "Besame Mucho" and "El Cumbanchero".
Students concentrate on playing beguine and samba rhythms.
